JANUARY 2024
(Apologies to all visitors to this Lahainaluna High School Foundation website: lahainalunahighschoolfoundation.org)
The rest of this website is still “under construction”. Due to the August 2023 Wildfire, we have been focusing on other immediate projects. We appreciate your support, patience, and understanding. What remains active are our DONATION buttons, particularly the special WILDFIRE RELIEF FUND, which we added soon after the fire. The original DONATE button is for general donations and remains active and accepts donations other than for Wildfire fund. Please note under the drop box section asking for COMMENTS and CLASS YEAR, please add any special comments or directions you wish your donation to be directed, or simply GREATEST NEEDS. If you were part of the recent PGA Tour and The Sentry Golf Tournament in Kapalua, please indicate SENTRY as part of your comment so we may also be able to collect data from this campaign. We sincerely appreciate the support of the PGA Tour and The Sentry and all of its supporters. HAPPY NEW YEAR!)
We are now charting our course for the next decade and we are all looking forward to the new projects and programs we will be involved with. We hope that you all stay involved, and to keep informed, you can visit our Facebook page, subscribe to our monthly eNews, and continue to visit our website for updates.
If you’re visiting our website, most likely you attended or tuned into The Sentry Golf Tournament. During this time, we’re partnering with the PGA TOUR and The Sentry to raise awareness and donations to our ongoing plight. Although it’s been almost 5 months since the Lahaina Wildfires occurred, we still have not moved past the maintenance mode for our displaced residents and begun building permanent housing.
The goal of the Lahainaluna High School Foundation is not only to care for the temporal needs of those affected but also to impact the process of rebuilding, or building anew, our beloved Lahaina town.
Please consider a donation at this time to help us in our efforts. The fact that you’re visiting this site shows you care. Help us to “Kukulu Hou”: let’s rebuild together. Be sure to use the WILDFIRE RELIEF FUND DONATE BUTTON and include “SENTRY” as part of your comments.
Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) in advance for your generosity.
As we are a 501c3 charitable organization, your donation will be tax deductible. Be sure to provide your full name, mailing address, along with an email and optional phone contact.
Hau’oli Makahiki Hou and MAHALO,

The 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions was held from January 6-10 at Kapalua, Maui. Once again, the Lahainaluna High School Foundation participated as one of the beneficiaries of the event. Volunteers from Lahainaluna sports teams and clubs helped with many of the tasks required to set-up, run, and break-down an event of this magnitude. While this year's tournament had it's own challenges, it continued to be a magnificent event.
2020
The Sentry Tournament of Champions maintained its traditional spot as the first tournament in January 2020. The 2019 tournament was held from January 4-7. Xander Schauffele tied the Plantation course record at Kapalua with an 11-under 62 on Sunday to win the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
More than a dozen Maui non-profit organizations benefitted from the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Checks totaling over $310,000 were presented to the charities at Lahainaluna High School’s Sue D. Cooley Stadium on June 12th. Sentry Insurance chairman of the board, president, and CEO Pete McPartland, joined by Sentry Tournament of Champions officials and non-profit representatives, announced that $312,430 was distributed to the community organizations. The Foundation is one of the (6) beneficiaries of the tournament and this year received $65,425.00.
Since 1999, the tournament and its host organizations have donated over $6.3 million to Hawaii’s non-profit organizations. The Lahainaluna High School Foundation has participated as a designated beneficiary since 2005 so we urge all our supporters to attend the Tournament of Champions!
The Foundation is one of six beneficiaries of the tournament and we have been a proud participant since 2006.

The Foundation's plan to renovate the Lahainaluna Cemetery has gained some traction and saw some visible progress on Saturday, July 8. The cemetery hasn't seen a formal renovation since 1929, and the Foundation hopes to bring this historical site back to an acceptable level. As of July 8, most of the weeds inside the perimeter and much of them outside the perimeter have been cleared.
About a third of the perimeter posts were repainted and a quarter of the perimeter chains were painted, as well. Other improvements call for putting down weed barrier cloth and gravel along the walkways surround the grave sites. Future plans will include replacing bad perimeter posts, straightening posts and finally, grave site renovations. For information on how you can help, contact the foundation at lhsfoundation@hawaiiantel.net., or use the contact form on this website.
